What is a Suspension Seatpost?
A suspension seatpost is a specially designed bicycle seatpost featuring shock absorbing construction that helps smooth out bumps in the terrain and reduce the impact to the rider. They are best suited for gravel biking and bikepacking applications but are also used on road bikes to help riders stay in the saddle through rough course areas. Suspension seatposts are often used on hybrid, city and e-bikes as well, especially in urban environments with shifting concrete conditions.
The Shockstop suspension seatposts feature a proprietary parallelogram design, which allows for the suspension to remain active even when you're seated and pedaling. This means that you can benefit from the suspension's smoothing effect even when you're putting down power, unlike some suspension seatposts that become rigid when you're pedaling. What kind of saddle bags can I use with the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost?
Most standard strap-based saddle bags will fit the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost without issue. If your saddle bag uses rigid clips, clamps, or some other inflexible attachment method, it's possible that your bag may not be compatible.
Any bag that just attaches to the saddle or just attaches to the post is fine. But when you attach to both the post and the saddle you need to account for the relative motion of the saddle to the post. This means that if you cinch down the bag when off the bike it might have some movement when you get on the saddle and compress the post a bit - this might not be a problem but it might be something that is an issue.
It all really depends on weight and how stable the bag is and if it is attached to both the post and the saddle - it can be fine but with a lot of weight it will mean it can move around when the post is compressed. It will likely come down to testing it out with your specific bag to see how it works. And if you have a bag that is able to be secured to just the post or to the post and a rear rack then you will be all set.
Is the stiffness of the ShockStop Seatpost adjustable?
Absolutely - We designed the ShockStop Suspension Seatpost so that you can adjust it to perfectly match your weight and riding style. The Shockstop Suspension Seatpost comes with a standard spring and an additional spring that can be added inside the standard spring to increase the stiffness. The preload adjustment knob at the bottom of the seatpost allows you to adjust the spring preload - the amount of force required to cause the saddle to start moving.
Is a Suspension Seatpost Suitable for Bikepacking?
A mix of back packing and road biking, with a dash of gravel biking as well, bikepacking is an increasingly popular form of biking adventure. It is also incredibly gear heavy, requiring multiple bags affixed to the bike frame and the muscles to get them up hills and over difficult terrain. Bikepackers are always looking for bike parts and accessories that make their ride easier. The Redshift Suspension Seatpost is great way to improve comfort on long and demanding bike packing trips. Transformational
The seat-post has transformed both ride comfort and undercarriage soreness post-ride. I thought I needed new bibs to save my nether regions. I needed one of these. The same goes for the stem btw. Feel significantly less knackered after a long ride.
Its onenof the greatest invention of the humankind. No more hard bumpy seat, it feels like theres a cushion of air under my saddle. Totally recommend to buy. Never ride with out shockstop suspension.

Can't imagine my Road Bikes without ShockStop
The vibration reduction is truly up to the diagram they show on the store. Sadly I live in a country with very bad road quality. But suddenly, all became a smooth dream to travel on. I own both Endurance and PRO versions for my Road Bikes. After 2+ yrs, I enjoy the high quality and almost maintenance free mechanisms. Today I can't imagine my stiff, alloy frames without these products! Me, my joints and bones are thankful for Redshift!
